This drink has everything to do with making good use of the grapefruit from my Dad's tree and absolutely nothing to do with me trying to justify the purchase of a bottle of Lillet. Did that sound convincing?
from Serious Eats
Makes 1
Ice cubes (for the glass and for mixing)
30ml vodka
30ml Lillet
75ml freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
A thin slice orange for garnish
Half fill a tall glass with ice. Set aside
Fill a mixing glass with ice. Pour the vodka, Lillet and grapefruit juice in and stir until very cold. Pour over ice in the prepared glass and garnish with a thin slice of orange, Old Sport.
I've never heard of Lillet. Does that make me unrefined?! Sounds nice though... gorgeously refreshing for these hot summer days. Great use of that good ol' grapefruit!
ReplyDeleteI drop names like Lillet just so that I can appear more refined than I really am. This little drink is almost mandatory on a hot summer day (or a cool Spring day come to think of it).
DeleteSounds so refreshing, and I love the name!
ReplyDeleteOh me too. Makes me want to cut my hair into a bob and put on a flappers dress.
DeleteI do not drink that often but when I do, this drink would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a drinker either, but I like a little cocktail on a hot day or when we are entertaining, or at the beach, or by the pool, or with pre-dinner nibbles... but seriously, one cocktail and I'm even sillier than usual.

Thanks Lillian. I can imagine drinking this lovely cocktail in a beautiful garden on a summer evening with party lights and elegant music. All I need now is to Jay Gatsby to sweep me off my feet.
