Tasman Sea Salt Flakes:
I received this gift of sea salt flakes from Tasman Sea Salt. They are a new company harvesting salt from the super-duper clear waters on the east coast of Tasmania. It's perfect as a finishing salt. The crunch as you bite into a potato chip or chocolate brownie is irresistible. *Mouth. Is. Watering.* Not to mention some Browned Butter and Salted Maple Sticky Buns sprinkled with these delicate flakes. Here's the recipe for Browned Butter and Salted Maple Sticky Buns, which I made and then ate... and ate some more.
Coco Chocolate and Nut Spreads:
I'm a sucker for new spreads and if they include chocolate I'm a goner. These unctuous offerings from Pureharvest are delicious on hot buttered sourdough toast, as cookie sandwich fillings, dolloped in smoothies and spread on Ritz crackers... What, who said that?
Adam's Big Pot by Adam Liaw:
This book has been a life saver recently. When you get home late, the kids are hungry, you're tired and you don't want to spend three hours in the kitchen cooking something that will take 15 minutes to eat, but still want to eat like a princess, Adam's your man. Beef Teriyaki last night, Taco Rice Gratin tonight - cooking as I type and wait for the kids to come home from footy training... beers on ice. It is Friday - TG!
Copper Serving Bowls:
Lovely, lovely, shiny, pretty copper bowls. Oh, how I love to serve food in them... and just to look at them.
Granola:
I've been eating truck loads of granola lately. This version came about by making too much trail mix. Here's the recipe for my Trail Mix Granola.
Dark Chocolate Coated Blueberries:
Me and a bag of these in the same room is a dangerous situation. Let's just say I've been getting plenty of antioxidants lately.
Organic Takara Hon Mirin:
You know I'm getting serious about my Japanese cooking when I start using the fancy stuff.
Anyway, that's my kitchen for now.

I love that you're cracking open the fancy stuff. :) Rather like saving the good china so it can be left in the will. I'm all for using the best stuff all the time.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to go in the kitchen and make granola. It's so cold and windy outside that running the oven is a good thing.
I'm definitely putting my recent granola phase down to the cooler weather. Heating the house up with the smells of warm spices and toasted nuts beats a scented candle any day of the week.
DeleteAdorable copper bowls!
ReplyDeleteCheers.

DeleteI can't resist those little copper pots either, they're perfect for curries! Great to know Adam's book is worth getting - I have his other one, but haven't checked this one out yet. And a new Aussie salt company? Very cool, thanks for the headsup! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Celia. I love Adam's no-fuss, totally-doable recipes. They always turn out great. We are having Okonomipotato from the book for dinner tonight. It's Friday again and the kids will be home after footy training, in the dark, hungry and cold. It's perfect food for them... and me, even though I'm at home in my warm kitchen with my woollies on.
DeleteI love watching Adam, he really seems to develop a bond with anyone he encounters. Figs, yummy. Wish I was a fan of chocolate cos these items look terrific!
ReplyDeleteThank you. His books are very approachable, just like the man. It's non-threatening food that tastes great and turns out terrific every time.
DeleteLots of lovely things in your kitchen, the granola looks fabulous. Love your wooden board that you placed all your items on for the photographs. Chocolate coated blueberries... :)
ReplyDeleteThose chocolate coated blueberries are addictive. You'll get all the antioxidants you could ever need if you start eating them.
DeleteThose shiny copper bowls are beautiful! Serving a delicious, quickly made dinner in these will make you feel even more like a princess! I can't wait to read about, drool over, and recreate whatever brown butter and salted maple creation finds its way here soon!
ReplyDeleteYes. Exactly. Putting simple food in fancy bowl elevates the whole experience. Kind of like drinking water out of a wine glass. Hope you find the recipes (up on the blog now) delicious.

If you keep speaking Asian condiments, books, dishes to me, we'll be (virtual) friends forever! ;) I may need to track down Adam's cookbook - I love his dishes. I love my copper bowls too, they always make an appearance on the dinner table. Love your #IMK this month x
