In My Kitchen - June 2014


Here's what's happening in my kitchen at the moment...






Honey:

My friends at Moco sent me some of their delicious raw honey to try. I adore honey. In fact, I love it so much I named half of my blog after it.



Rosemary:

Most people plant English Box as I hedge, I plant rosemary. It's in flower at the moment, which means it's time to prune. Pruning means my kitchen is cluttered with bottles of all shapes and sizes filled with rosemary cuttings. At this time of the year, I get to swan around my kitchen pretending I'm in a shampoo commercial with all the "forest greenery", "herbal goodness" and "natural fragrance". 



Measuring Cups:

I bought these measuring cups in the States when we were visiting family there a few years ago. I think they are too pretty to use as measuring cups (I have ugly plastic ones for that), so I use them for serving nuts and olives, olive oil and dukkah. I would wear them as earrings if I could.



1 Kilo Bag Callebaut Dark Chocolate Buttons:

I bought a 1 kilo bag of Callebaut Dark Chocolate Chips this month. Now I don't think my life is complete unless I have a 1 kilo bag of Callebaut Dark Chocolate Chips in my kitchen.



New Cookbook:

I've been loving reading and cooking out of one of my newest (notice I said "one" of my newest) cookbooks, My Darling Lemon Thyme by Emma Galloway. So far I've made versions of the Tahini Orange and Coconut Toasted Muesli and Spiced Pumpkin Quinoa Chocolate-Chip Muffins. I'm not gluten-intolerant, but I am bad-food-intolerant, so this book is right up my street.


Anyway, that's my kitchen for now.

    What a fantastic Kitchen you have this month... I wish that I could "swan around in my kitchen pretending I'm in a shampoo commercial" but my kitchen is too small! I live on the Gold Coast and have looked everywhere for Callebaut Chocolate... but I'm yet to find it! do you buy yours online? If so can you recommend a good site. I am seriously thinking of getting my girlfriend to bring some up for me when she comes to visit next month! BTW I love your blog, Ive been on here for sometime checking things out! I'm new to the food blog world and I'm loving it (where have I been all my life) thanks for sharing! :)

      Thanks for dropping into my kitchen Elizabeth. I buy the chocolate locally at a deli. I'm very lucky as I don't think it's that easy to get. You can buy it online at The Melbourne Food Ingredient Depot. Hope that helps.

      I know exactly what you mean about discovering food blogs. The first time I found them (which wasn't that long ago), I remember thinking, "How long has this been going on without me?":)

      Hey Liz. I bought the chocolate at a local deli but you can get it online at The Melbourne Food Ingredient Depot.

      I did read your interview with Emma and really enjoyed it. She put together a really stunning book. I'm loving it.

    Lovely. I'm sure those measuring cups will be getting many admiring comments and I wouldn't use them to measure either. I recently did a post on granola myself but have book marked yours (Emma's) as the quinoa version is worth having a go at. Cheers. xx

      Thanks Fiona. I eat granola for breakfast most days so I have a lot of recipes. The gluten-free version with quinoa is really good.

    Gorgeous measuring cups - are they from Anthropologie? Some of their stuff makes me drool, it's so beautiful. Your rosemary is looking very pretty - would make a wonderful hedge! Ours is a rambling version, which means we don't get lovely skewers like you do! And I couldn't agree with you more - there HAS to be chocolate in the house at any given time! :)

      Yes, they are from Anthropologie. Love that shop. I wanted to bring the whole store home with me. My rosemary makes a lovely dense, evergreen, fragrant hedge. Thanks for your IMK series Celia. It brings a lot of bloggers together.

    I now have an image of you spinning around your kitchen amongst the rosemary with measuring cup earrings holding a bag of chocolate chips. Also, I must get my hands on a copy of this book! Especially since seeing your wonderful adaptations of some of the recipes :)

    Loving your Mexican-painted measuring bowls - way too good to measure things with, for sure! How amazing is your house smelling right now with all that rosemary? Roast lamb would be perfect in your kitchen right now! If you need to get rid of some rosemary just let me know ;) Great to be part of IMK to see what's in everyone's kitchen

      You're right, my house smells amazing. Now all I need to make it even better, is a lamb roast in the oven. I love the IMK series. It's a great way to connect with other bloggers. Thanks for dropping into my heavily perfumed kitchen.

    love those measuring cups. so cute. and all that rosemary. i had sprigs in the house recently for anzac day. our bush keeps on keeping on even with complete neglect.
