Happy New Year!
Christmas Cake:
It's a rare thing for me to receive a gift of baked goods, but I love it when I do. This pretty little Christmas cake from Baylies Epicurean Delights came as part of a hamper filled with festive goodies. I do love a slice of rich fruit cake with a cup of tea for an afternoon treat on the days between Christmas and New Year... or on any other day of the year for that matter. I'm not a princess about it.
Mojitos:
The makings of a refreshing mojito are always within close reach at this time of the year... because summertime.
Fruit Pastes:
Cheeseboards are de rigueur at my place during the holidays. I like to offer lots of picky bits and open bottles of Champagne when friends come over... or when Clint and I just decide to chill out poolside... or Netflixside. What better way to amp up the offerings than by adding a fruit paste along side your Saint Vernier? Don't mind if I do.
Garlic:
We've had a bumper crop of garlic from our garden this year. It's an ingredient I use almost every day, so I'm very invested in it. Chinese imports begone.

New Kitchen by Karen Martini:
It wouldn't be Christmas for me without a new cookbook and Karen Martini's New Kitchen is the most recent addition to my library. (And by library, I mean the room next to my kitchen which is groaning with cookbooks stuffed to bursting on every shelf, tabletop, ledge and flat surface available... or not available).
Bubbles:
So, that's my kitchen for now.

ReplyDeleteI'm excited about getting wine for Christmas and look at all that champagne you've got. Good for you! I'll have to look up your new cookbook. I'm not familiar with the author. Love your photography, you have a great eye.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you & your family Jennifer, I can never have too many champagnes either! Although I didn't have too many this New Years for some strange reason :( Everyone deserves bubbles in their world as life's too short & every second must be enjoyed to the fullest! So next New Years is at yours!?! ;) May I ask where you bought that fig & walnut paste? Sounds delicious and now I want some with my Margaret River Triple Brie!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Am loving your selection of bubbles and your photo's are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post with gorgeous photos. Bubbles are indeed fantastic, who needs an excuse?! Fruit paste is great on a cheese board, though I am lazy and generally use one of my homemade jams. The boys love it with goat cheese. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThat garlic.... won't touch the Chinese stuff... it's like soap (and goodness knows what chemical content). Cheers to all those bubbles - Happy new year.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, with all that bubbles you must have had a good day.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks like it's seen the festive season through with style. I love the fruit pastes in particular. Happy 2016 :)
ReplyDeleteCheers to fizz and bubbles and 2016. Lovely selection of goodies, I love quince paste with cheeses xx
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I totally agree with you that life's too short not to celebrate... with champagne, Mojitos, or fruit cake (aka Christmas Cake) "whenever." I'm with you! Thanks for this beautiful photo foray (and accompanying thoughts) through your January kitchen. Yes ma'am!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect January! I love everything in your kitchen, it's the first time I've thought that a mid-summer Christmas might be fun, especially if Mojitos are part of it. Wonderful!
ReplyDeletei love champagne! veuve is my very fave but i can drink anything if i have to. glad to see you had lots around for Xmas. Happy new year.
ReplyDeleteThe garlic braid is just so beautiful against the lively wall that has probably seen some life. Perfection!
