In My Kitchen - April 2014

The lovely Lizzy from Bizzy Lizzy's Good Things told me about her friend Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial who hosts a monthly round up called In My Kitchen and asked if I would like to join in. And guess what? I said yes.

So here's what's In My Kitchen at the moment...

Books

These arrived this morning. Oh how I love internet shopping. Sorry husband.


Chocolate

I'd like to tell you that I have all this chocolate in my pantry because we had a birthday party for my 11 year old son yesterday but the truth is, I always have this much chocolate in my house. Chocolate is like a security blanket for me. If I don't have it falling out of my cupboards, I can't sleep at night.


Eggs

I have six laying hens and they are going gang-busters with their egg laying at the moment. Their names are Sansa, Arya, Daenerys, Cersei, Catelyn and Jennifer - my kids thought naming one of the hens after me was hilarious.


Anyway, that's my kitchen for now.

    Wonderful. I want The Four and Twenty Blackbirds Pie Book so bad! And get a load of those lovely eggs. I"m green with envy over this post. Sigh.

    I do love that your chickens are named after Game of Thrones characters :)
    Also, chocolate - totally my safety net too. Must have chocolate chips of all kinds, plus bars for baking, and bar of the darkest stuff for snacking :) (oh and chocolate freckles don't go astray either...).
    Sally's book is so good! I can't wait to get my copy of Four and Twenty Blackbirds. This winter needs pie.

      Yes, we are very well read when it comes to naming our livestock! I still don't think I have quite enough chocolate in the house. That birthday party ran our supplies down. Must remedy that quick smart. Loving Sally's book. I ordered it as soon as you posted your lovely cookies using a recipe from it. Can't wait to get baking.

    Love that! I'm curious about the Lindt passionfruit chocolate now! & the books, I've to try to count them an the magazines and I gave up! Too many! & the hens...you lucky one! In my neighborhood, it's forbidden so I'm going to wait until I move in a house and a biiiggg loan :)

      The passionfruit chocolate is deeelicious. I stopped counting my cookbooks and magazine (mostly because it's a bit too embarrassing) I do use a very useful site called Eat Your Books which catalogs all my cookbooks and magazines. I couldn't live without it. I'd never be able to find a recipe otherwise. You might find it helpful too. I love my chickens (and fresh eggs). I couldn't live without them either.

    Hi Jennifer, thanks for playing! Lovely eggs - not sure there's anything better to eat than a freshly laid egg! And completely understand about the chocolate - we keep 10kg in the house at any given time! :)

      Thanks Sally. The fleur de sel Lindt is so more-ish... but then all Lindt chocolate is for me. It's such a luxury to go out into your garden and collect fresh eggs.

    Kids huh? I like chocolate but I like lollies more. Having said that I can tell you that I have the passionfruit, salt and almond Lindt in my cupboard at the moment so I guess maybe I like chocolate more than I thought. Snap! Thanks for the tour and welcome. xx
